DIY: REMOVABLE FAUX FUR POM POM
Updated: Oct 27, 2021
As promised, here's another quick and easy tutorial! These pom poms are a great instant gratification project that anyone can do. The best part is that they are removable!
Let's get started!
Materials:
faux fur fabric
cutting tool ( I used the Fiskar Fabric Knife)
cutting mat
circle template [free printable template below. Includes 4 sizes]
scissors
polyfil
yarn ( I used a bulky weight yarn)
tapestry needle
marker/pen
Instructions:
Step 1: Lay the fabric on your cutting mat with the wrong side facing up.
Step 2: Take the circle template and trace it onto the fabric.
Step 3: Carefully take the cutting tool and cut out the circle.
Step 4: Cut a ten inch piece of yarn. Thread your needle and stitch around the edge of the circle.
Step 5: Pull the yarn to gather the sides. Stuff the pom pom with polyfil.
Step 6: Pull the yarn to completely close the opening. Tie a knot to secure and you're done!
To add the pom pom to a hat simply, pull the two pieces of yarn through the top of the hat, flip the hat inside out and tie a bow. When you want to remove the pom pom, just untie the bow to pull it out of the hat.
Another option to make the pom pom removable is to use a snap button. After completing your pom pom, sew one half of the button to the pom pom and the other half to the top of the hat. Snap the pom pom on the hat to attach. EASY!
We've come to the end of another tutorial! I want to see your creations! Make sure to share your finished projects made using this pattern on Instagram with the hashtag #yarnth3orytaughtme .
If you have any questions (or see any mistakes) post them in the comments below.
Happy Crafting!
