yTh3 Holidays: DIY CROCHET SCRUNCHIES

Updated: Nov 14, 2021

Its been a hectic week but better late than never right?! Here's project number two in our holiday series. Continue scrolling for this week's project!

Today we are making crochet scrunchies! They are super easy to make and great for markets.

Let's get started.

Materials:

  • worsted weight or bulky weight velvet yarn

  • 6.5 mm crochet hook

  • 1/4 inch braided elastic

  • stitch marker

  • scissors

  • tapestry needle

  • measuring tape

Notes:

* Pattern is written in standard US terms*

Pattern:

Step 1: With your cord, start with a slip knot and then chain 50. Join to the first chain to make a circle. Place marker.

Step 2: Single crochet into every stitch around for seven rounds.

Step 3: Finish off, leaving a long tail to use to seam the scrunchie closed.

Step 4: Cut an 8 inch piece of elastic and tie knot. Flip fabric inside out and place elastic around it.

Step 5: Sew edges together around the elastic using your preferred method. Finish off. Weave ends.

Ayeeee, you did it! I want to see your creations! Make sure to share your finished projects made using this pattern on Instagram with the hashtag #yarnth3orytaughtme .

If you have any questions (or see any mistakes) post them in the comments below.

Happy Crafting!
