Base (chain count: multiple of 3 + 8 additional chains):

Row 1: Chain 35. Dc into the 8th chain from your hook. [Ch 2. skip 2. Dc in next ch.] Repeat until you reach the end of the row.

Rows 2 - 4: Turn your work. Chain 5 (counts as the first dc and chain 2). Dc into the top of the next dc from the previous row. [Ch 2. Dc into the top of the next dc from the previous row. ] Repeat until you reach the end of the row.

Once you have completed the rows for the base, slip stitch to the center of the short side. We do this so that the seam is centered on the side of the bag.

Note: If you'd like to change the size of your base, adjust the number of rows to your preferred size.

Body:

Round 1: Ch 5. Dc into side of the row (refer to photo below.)

Ch 2. Dc into corner (refer to photo below.)

[ Ch2. Dc into top of DC from previous round. ]. Continue in this pattern around to the last Dc, making sure to place a dc into each corner. After completing the last dc, ch 2. Sl st to the beginning chain to close the round.

Rounds 2 - 11: Ch5. Dc into top of Dc from previous round. [ Ch 2. Dc into top of Dc from previous round. ] around. Ch 2. Sl st to the beginning ch to close the round.

Handles:

Round 12: Ch 5. Dc into top of Dc from previous round. [Ch 2. Dc into top of Dc from previous round.] 4 times. Ch 38. Skip 4 "ch2" spaces. Dc into top of next Dc. (refer to photo below.)

[Ch 2. Dc into top of Dc from previous round.] 10 times. Ch 38. Skip 4 "ch2" spaces. Dc into top of next Dc. [Ch 2. Dc into top of Dc from previous round.] 4 times. Ch 2. Sl st to the beginning ch to close the round.

Round 13: Ch5. Dc into top of Dc from previous round. [ Ch 2. Dc into top of DC from previous round. ] around until you reach the last Dc. [I continued working the mesh pattern on the handles but you could also dc into each chain on the handle to create a filled in handle.]

Once you reach the last Dc. Ch 2. Sl st to the beginning ch to close the round.

Weave ends. All done!
